3-day Public Course

3-day Public Project Management Course

Canberra, 10 – 12 November 2025

** This is a one off, at special discounted prices, for some special people

Aim

The course is workshop based and is primarily aimed at training participants to understand the fundamentals of planning and controlling a work-based project.   The course is unique in that it also allows project teams to fully develop their work-based project whilst they are learning project management skills.

The Workshop

The workshop focuses on the development of the key elements of a project plan.  Participants form small groups (usually their team from the workplace) and nominate a project to plan during the workshop.  Key planning templates are explained and groups complete those templates for their nominated project.  The workshop is therefore a great opportunity for project teams to ‘start-up’ a project whilst learning the techniques and gaining expert facilitation for their outline project plan.

Who should attend?

The course is suitable for the first timer to project management or the project management professional who wants some formal recognition for their skills and knowledge.  Ideally teams of six or more from any organisation who have a project that they are about to undertake will find the time spent on the course extremely valuable.  Teams have the added advantage of spending quality time together over three days planning their project whilst also receiving expert knowledge and guidance.

Assessment

Outline

Assessment is optional and a decision as to whether you want to pursue a formal Project Management qualification needs to be made within seven days of you having completed the course.   If you opt for a formal Project Management qualification, you have 12 months to complete your assessment (extensions are available).

In outline, the award of a Diploma of Project Management states that you have met the requirements of a Project Manager.

In basic terms, you need to show the assessor that you can do three things:

  1. Plan two projects (at least one must be a work-based project)
  2. Monitor and control two projects
  3. Finalise two projects

From an assessor’s perspective there is a lot more involved, but from a candidate’s perspective, those are the fundamentals.  More detail about the assessment will be explained to you during the course.

RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning is available to candidates who have already completed formal Project Management training.  The reduction of assessment requirements will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Assessment Cost

The cost to undertake the Diploma assessment is an additional $2,150 $1,250 per person (does not attract GST as this is a recognised qualification).  This amount will be billed just prior to the award of your Diploma.
